User Help

Some links to other examples of domains run on Google Sites and some tips for users of these sites.

In these instructions where ever you see "ofVA.US" you can substitute your domain or sub-domain.

Set up your domain: See my domain set up suggestions.

Some of your Google applications:

•Google Apps Control Panel - For administrators I'll usually set a url forward like http://admin.ofVA.US that takes you to
This control panel is where you would go to add users & make changes to Google Apps settings. It will look something like this:

•Email - http://mail.ofVA.US is where you check your own email. Also from your email settings you can set it to forward your mail to another email.

•Calendar - the shared ofVA.US calendar is visible to all at Events.ofVA.US but can also be viewed from your personal calendar. To see the shared calendar first right click on this link and select copy link location. Next, from your calendar, click on "Add" under Other Calendars in the left side bar of your calendar and  choose "add by url" then past the link. Or you can add a friend's calendar and use in the email box. More info on calendars on the Events Calendar page.

•Docs - http://docs.ofVA.US is your documents like MS Word and Excel you can create or upload documents here and establish who will be able to see and edit them.

•Sites - http://sites.ofVA.US leads you to the general sites creation page. From there you can either edit this site or create a new one. A new site you create will be part of this domain but not necessarily be part of this site. The settings from the look of it to the permissions will all have to be set up and can be made to be completely different from the pages in this site. See more about editing our sites.

Other Google Applications:
You may want to create a Google Account to take advantage of other Google Applications

•Google Accounts - and create a new account using your @ofVA.US or @yourdomain.ofVA.US email address. (If you have a Google Account, you can also add this email to that account if you prefer.)

Then you can sign in to other Google applications with your @ofVA.US email address.
For example,

•Picasawebs - is a photo sharing site that works well with Google apps. There are a variety of gadgets that can be added to the website to show off photos in these albums. You can also collaborate with others on an album.

•Google Maps - is available without signing in but when signed in with a Google account you also are able to save favorite places and routes and even edit maps and locations for others to see.
